For western Madagascar (Morondava, Tsingy, Kirindy) the dry season from April to November is best. The Tsingy de Bemaraha area is usually reachable from about April–May to November; in the rainy season the roads become impassable. July and August are the busiest months, so book early. The Avenue of the Baobabs can be visited almost all year.

One day is enough for the Avenue of the Baobabs and a Kirindy Forest visit from Morondava. Count 3–4 days for Tsingy de Bemaraha with the baobabs, and 6–8 days if you add the Tsiribihina River descent. Two weeks lets you combine the west with Andasibe or the RN7 south.
