Our Tsiribihina River tours

The price for 1 traveller is fixed. For a group, the price depends on the number of travellers and on what you need (meals, accommodation, excursions…), so ask us for an exact quote for your group.

The river descent

The descent starts near Miandrivazo and follows the Tsiribihina through gorges, forests and farmland down to Belo-sur-Tsiribihina. Nights are spent camping on sandbanks, prepared by the crew.

Along the way you pass Sakalava villages, sacred places with local taboos (fady), birds and sometimes lemurs on the banks.

Combine the river with the west

From Belo-sur-Tsiribihina it is easy to continue to Tsingy de Bemaraha, Kirindy Forest and the Avenue of the Baobabs. That is why our 4 to 8-day circuits start with the river.

Tsiribihina River: your questions

Is the river descent comfortable?

+

It is a simple, authentic experience: pirogue by day and camping by night, with basic facilities. It suits travellers who enjoy nature and calm.

Do I need to know how to swim?

+

It helps but is not required. The river is calm in the dry season and the crew are experienced boatmen.

How long is the descent?

+

Usually 3 days. Our longer circuits add Kirindy, the baobabs and the Tsingy.
