4x4 drive north through changing highland and western landscapes. Board your traditional pirogue in the afternoon and begin the gentle descent. First riverside camp under the stars.

Full day on the river, passing sacred villages, cliffs and natural pools. Swimming, birdwatching and relaxed campfire evening on a wild sandbank.

Last stretch to Belo-sur-Tsiribihina. Disembark, meet your 4x4 and continue towards Morondava with an optional Baobabs sunset stop.

This tour lasts 3 Days. We can adapt the itinerary to a shorter or longer stay on request.

Yes, the descent is gentle and suitable for most fitness levels. Experienced local boatmen handle the pirogue; being able to swim helps but is not required.

Sun protection, a hat, a light sleeping bag or liner, insect repellent, a dry bag for electronics and a head torch. Camping equipment for the river is provided.

Facilities are basic — this is wild camping on river sandbanks. The crew sets up a simple camp each evening.
